Execution Report: William Davis

Continued from Page 1

A jury convicted Davis of capital murder in 1978 and sentenced him to death. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the conviction and sentence in 1989.

At the time of Davis' execution, he had spent more time on Texas' death row than all but ten other prisoners.

"I would like to say to the Lang family how truly sorry I am in my soul and in my heart of hearts for the pain and misery that I have caused from my actions," Davis said in his last statement. "I am truly sorry. And to my family, I would also like to extend to them the same apology for the pain and misery that I have put them through, and I love them dearly from the bottom of my heart..." Prince also thanked God and professed faith in Jesus Christ, and mentioned that he was donating his body to science, in the hope that "some parts of it can be used to help someone." After telling the warden he was finished, he added, "Oh, I would like to say in closing, what about those Cowboys?" The lethal injection was then started. He was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m.
