Execution Report: Charles Boyd

Continued from Page 1

Boyd had a previous conviction for aggravated sexual assault. He served about half of a five-year prison sentence before being released in November 1985.

When asked if he wanted to make a last statement at his execution, Boyd said no. The lethal injection was then started. Boyd then changed his mind and began speaking to the witnesses. "I want y'all to know that I did not do this crime," he said. "I asked for a 30-day stay for a DNA test so y'all could know who did the crime." The drugs then took effect, and he lost consciousness. He was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m.
